About
I study how the brain works through the lens of its physical substrate. Working with Nicolas Brunel (Bocconi University, Milan) and Nicho Hatsopoulos (University of Chicago), I use neurobiological insight, machine learning frameworks, and physics methods to understand operating modes of complex neural systems as they carry out their functions—under the constraints of finite space and time. Currently I focus on the motor system.
I also collaborate with Xiao-Jing Wang (NYU) on questions of working memory.
Previously: vision with Lyle Muller (Western University) in collaboration with John Reynolds (Salk Institute); neuroimaging with Ravi Menon (Western University).
